President

Young Park is president and founder of Berkeley Investments. As such, he sets strategic priorities for the firm, leads all investment production and investor relations and oversees development activities. Young is an active board member and former president of the Massachusetts Chapter of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and a board member and Executive Committee member of A Better City (ABC). Young is active on a number of non-profit boards, including Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) together with his wife, Anja Langbein-Park. He is currently a member of the Visiting Committee of the Department of Architecture at MIT and the Real Estate Advisory Board of Roger Williams University. Young is a graduate of MIT (BS Urban Studies) and Harvard University Graduate School of Design (Master of Architecture in Urban Design). Young lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife and their two children.

Senior Vice President, Finance

Samara directs and oversees the capital markets strategy for Berkeley Investments. In this capacity she is responsible for the origination and execution of all project finance, including debt and equity as well as asset sales and other capital market transactions. Prior to joining Berkeley in late 2019, she served as Director of Investments at Guggenheim Real Estate, a private equity real estate investment firm, where she was responsible for the origination, acquisition and overall investment performance of a commercial real estate portfolio valued in excess of $750 million. During her twelve years at Guggenheim, Samara held roles that included acquisitions, finance, asset management, portfolio management and development oversight. She began her career in the audit and consulting groups at KMPG and holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business. She is an active member of ULI as part of the Boston Market Council.

Senior Vice President, Director of Asset Management

Dan McGrath oversees the leasing and asset management of Berkeley’s overall investment portfolio. In this capacity, he develops and implements strategies to add value to the portfolio, manages all leasing activity, and oversees property performance. He is also involved in investor reporting and has served in project management roles overseeing permitting efforts and redevelopment projects at various properties across the portfolio. Before joining Berkeley, Dan spent nearly 14 years at New Boston Fund, a private equity real estate investment firm. Dan is an active member of ULI as well as NAIOP, where he is past chair of the Programs Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. He is a past recipient of the NAIOP MA President’s Award and its National Developing Leader Award. Dan is also an active volunteer with United Way. He holds a BA from Harvard University and an MS-RED from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chief Accounting Officer

Suzanne directs and oversees all aspects of Berkeley Investments’ accounting and tax function. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations as well as all of Berkeley’s investor and tax compliance reporting. Prior to joining Berkeley, Suzanne spent four years as Controller at Epic Real Estate Partners, a real estate investment firm in Austin, TX. At Epic she oversaw the accounting operations for Epic’s real estate funds.

Prior to Epic, Suzanne worked at Guggenheim Real Estate in Boston as Vice President of Accounting and Fund Operations. At Guggenheim she was responsible for reviewing the accounting and tax compliance of Guggenheim’s direct real estate investment portfolio.

Suzanne began her career in the assurance group at PwC focusing on banking, mutual fund and real estate clients. She received her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, P.Q. and a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Northeastern University.

Elizabeth Mahoney

Senior Vice President, Acquisitions

Elizabeth Mahoney oversees all new acquisitions. She assists in the sourcing of potential acquisitions and leads the underwriting, due diligence, and closing process for new investments. Covering a broad range of asset classes, she identifies strong investment opportunities including ground-up development, rehab, value-add opportunities, and core deals. She also provides financial analysis for the firm’s development and asset management initiatives. Prior to joining Berkeley Investments, Liz was a Senior Analyst at Anglo Irish Bank Corporation in the Commercial Real Estate Lending Division, where she managed a diversified loan portfolio of over $1B in the aggregate. She is a graduate of The University of Connecticut (BS in Finance).

Executive Vice President

Tony Tanery joined Berkeley Investments in 2007 and was initially responsible for overseeing the firm’s construction activities from conceptual planning and preconstruction activities through contract negotiation and project delivery. As Executive Vice President, Mr. Tanery has a broad range of responsibilities. He works closely with the acquisitions, development and asset management teams to create value while new acquisition opportunities are being assessed. He is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to execute on all construction management activities at Berkeley. His extensive experience as a senior construction executive in the construction industry across a diverse range of major projects for commercial, healthcare, educational and institutional clients has helped acquire, develop and construct millions of square feet of commercial office, flex, parking and multi-family assets for Berkeley. Previously, Mr. Tanery held positions with several New York and Boston-based construction management firms, including serving as a Project Executive with Corjen Construction Company and as a Vice President with Linbeck. He has a BSCE from City College of New York.

Tony Tanery
Esther Chung Byun

Director, Development

As Senior Project Manager, Esther oversees residential, lab and mixed-use development projects throughout greater Boston, from project inception through to completion, including due diligence, feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction and lease-up. Prior to joining Berkeley Investments, Esther was a trained architect and urban planner, and worked with the development team at The Community Builders and the Land Use and Zoning Division of the City of Cambridge Community Development Department, where she performed feasibility studies and designed various mixed-use projects, supported the development of mixed-income housing and researched zoning issues to support Planning Board decisions. Ms. Byun is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of City Planning. She is an active member of Boston ULI and NAIOP.

Director, Construction and Project Management

Jen Rosenberg is responsible for overseeing construction activities on a number of ongoing commercial and residential development projects across Berkeley’s portfolio. She oversees budget, schedule, and construction team management from pre-construction through project closeout. Jen also works with Berkeley’s investment and project management teams on feasibility reviews of prospective developments and assists on ongoing projects through the design phase. Before joining Berkeley, Jen was a Structural Engineer at Silman, leading design and construction administration on various residential and institutional projects. Jen is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BSE in Civil and Environmental Engineering) and Georgia Institute of Technology (MS in Civil Engineering). She is a licensed Professional Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional.

John M. Karoff

Senior Vice President, Berkeley Management

John Karoff directs Berkeley Management, the property management affiliate of Berkeley Investments. He has over 25 years of real estate management experience. Prior to joining Berkeley, John was a general manager at Beacon Properties Corporation, where he was responsible for the overall management of a portfolio of properties in the Boston area totaling over 2.1 million square feet. In addition to overseeing Berkeley Management, he is responsible for providing project management oversight of development projects and capital and tenant improvement programs. John is a commissioner of the Fort Point Channel District Commission and a member of the Government Affairs Committee of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. He is a graduate of Colby College (BA Government).

Operations Manager

Kelly Levasseur is responsible for daily on-site operations for Berkeley Management’s commercial portfolio, including addressing tenant requests, managing building maintenance personnel, vendor contract administration and budgeting. Kelly also works closely with the Asset Management team, overseeing tenant improvement construction projects at the Waltham Watch Factory. In a corporate capacity, Kelly also serves as Berkeley’s HR Coordinator, facilitating new hires, benefits and negotiating health insurance plans. Prior to her 15 years with Berkeley Management, Inc., Kelly worked for Olsten Staffing Services as a Branch Manager.

Senior Property Manager, Berkeley Management

Mark Sullivan oversees the property management of Berkeley Management’s metropolitan Boston portfolio, comprising approximately 1,100,000 square feet of commercial office space. With over 20 years of commercial and retail property management experience and his Massachusetts Construction license, Mark has been instrumental in providing extensive construction management services during major building renovation projects. Prior to joining Berkeley, he was a property manager for The Flatley Company. Mark is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (AS Mechanical Engineering Technology).

Asset Manager

Kevin directs asset and development management activities for many of Berkeley’s projects, with a main focus on Berkeley’s multifamily assets. Kevin combines his project management skills, placemaking abilities, analytical background, and his knowledge of the New England market to add value to Berkeley’s value-add & ground-up projects, stabilized apartment portfolio, and condominium developments. He is also heavily involved in managing the commercial portfolio’s performance, leasing, retail strategy, and underwriting. Kevin is a graduate of Boston College (BA in Economics) and Babson College (MBA).
