The Link on Lincoln

The Link on Lincoln

176 Lincoln St Boston, MA

Located on five acres in Allston in close proximity to Downtown Boston, The Link on Lincoln is a fully permitted transformative mixed-use development that will activate a strategically located parcel with unparalleled visibility from the Massachusetts Turnpike and immediate access to the Boston Landing commuter rail stop. This compelling 1.1 million square foot mixed-use project is positioned as the gateway to the burgeoning Allston life science cluster growing around Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus (ERC), Innovation Lab and the Allston Labworks. As Boston area life science and advanced technology sectors expand beyond Kendall Square, The Link will serve as a link between Harvard’s Cambridge campus, the Allston life science cluster, Boston University’s science and engineering initiatives and the land constrained Longwood Medical Area (LMA).

The Link will feature two free-standing lab and innovation buildings of approximately 350,000SF each situated atop an underground parking garage. The project will also incorporate on-site housing, including 253 rental units of which 45 will be affordable including 10 artist live/work units as well as 16,000SF of world-class retail and restaurant concepts.

Contributing to the dynamic changes occurring in the surrounding community, the ground floor of the proposed buildings will feature active uses open to the public including a partnership with the artists and maker community from the neighboring Artisans Asylum non-profit, street level cafes and restaurants; these active uses will spill out onto two acres of landscaped open space filled with over 100 newly planted trees. The transit-oriented project is steps away from the MBTA train stop and offers 500 weather protected bicycle parking spaces. The upgraded street network and traffic pattern facilitate quick access to Western Avenue and the Mass Pike for a quick drive to Harvard Square, Kendall Square, Logan Airport, Longwood Medical Area and the Seaport.

The Link project comes at a time of major public and private capital investments in the Allston-Brighton market area, which include the Athena Health and 60 Guest Street campus at Boston Landing, the new Allston Labworks life science development and the planned move of the Harvard American Repertory Theater (ART) to Barry’s Corner from its Brattle Street legacy location.

Further down the road, and directly in the path of development growth in Allston-Brighton, the Turnpike Authority in cooperation with Harvard University, proposes to relocate the Mass Pike Viaduct, allowing the redevelopment of almost 100 acres of currently underutilized industrial and railroad yard land into a vibrant mixed-use cluster with substantial housing, life science and R&D development components being realized over the next decade. This proposed Harvard-led Allston Landing South along with the completion of The Link on Lincoln are momentous steps in making this area one of the most significant new innovation districts in the region since Boston’s Seaport was revitalized fifteen years ago.
